The countdown is on until we are back on the Gold Coast for our annual Turf Games Summer Festival. We can't wait to welcome you all to the TURF at the Gold Coast Performance Centre on the 14th and 15th September 2024. Please find below all the athlete information you will need for the Summer Festival weekend.
Can Team Leaders please ensure that all your athletes are linked to your team on Team Aretas as soon as possible. If you are having any issues adding athletes please contact caroline@turfgames.com for assistance.
The 6 athletes linked to your Team Aretas team MUST be the 6 athletes that take part on the day. If it is discovered that this is not the case your team will face disqualification.

PARKING
There is plenty of parking at the venue. Please see available car parks below. Once these are full there is parking available on the streets surrounding the venue.
ATHLETE CHECK IN
You can check your team in on Friday 13th September between 4.30pm and 6pm or on Saturday 14th when you arrive at the venue in the morning. If you can make it work, we would advise coming to site on Friday evening, checking your team in, collecting your wristbands so you are ready to go on Saturday morning.
Only 1 athlete needs to come and check the team in and collect all the teams wristbands, not all 6 athletes need to be present to check the team in. However you will be asked to confirm all 6 names listed on the team are correct. If the 6 names are not correct, you will not be able to check in and take the wristbands.
Weather dependent, you will also be able to set up your gazebo on Friday afternoon as well in the athlete area. Pleae bring appropriate weights for each leg - minimum 15kg per leg.
Those who already have their wristbands will be able to walk straight in on Saturday morning and avoid the queues of other athletes checking in.
If you can't make Friday, athlete check in will open from 7.05am Saturday morning. Teams will have staggered heat times for their first workout. We advise that you arrive at least 60 minutes prior to your first workout.

Heat times are now live. Click the link below and on your division and find your team. Please disregard any times on the website TEAM ARETAS - the times you are working out are in the below link. Please arrive at the arena at least 10 minutes before your start time.
HEAT TIMES
Everyday Teams - Saturday Only
Teams will compete in 5 workouts on Saturday.
Everyday podium will be at 5.50pm Saturday night.
Elite + Intermediate Teams - will compete in 4 workouts on Saturday + 3 workouts on Sunday.
Intermediate + Elite Podiums will be at 2.10pm Sunday.
*PLEASE NOTE - the 6 athletes who take to the Turf for your first workout on Saturday, MUST be the same 6 athletes who take part in ALL workouts. There is no subbing of team members allowed. Elite / Intermediate teams - you can NOT change athletes between Saturday and Sunday. If any team subs in an athlete due to injury/absence or any other reason, the team can complete workouts, however, they will not receive their score uploaded to the leaderboard.

Gold Coast Summer Festival WORKOUTS
There will be no workout briefing on the day. All workouts, when released, will have full description and explanation videos. Please watch and re-watch these when they are released. We will give an opportunity to ask any questions about workouts on Instagram leading into the event or you can message / email through. Make sure you are practising correct movement standards in the lead up to the event so come Game Day, your no reps are limited!

Water World Swim Workout
The swim workout will take place in a 'controlled' environment - an outdoor, clean water swimming pool - 22m wide x 50m long
- The Everyday and Intermediate athlete workout takes place on Saturday and requires team members to swim lengths across the pool and back (22m for each lap)
- The Elite teams swim on Sunday morning and will be using the 50m length of the pool
We have outlined the safety plan for this workout below:
- Staff - each team of 6 will have a minimum of 1 judge watching their lane as well as roaming head staff monitoring the pool
- Lifeguards - there will be 2 fully trained lifeguards with correct lifesaving equipment monitoring the pool during each event
- Medics - there will be a fully trained medical team on site to provide immediate assistance if needed
We would encourage all athletes taking part to assess their fitness levels generally and their swim ability. It is not a requirement that all athletes in each team need to swim during the workout. You can discuss amongst you as to the best way to complete the workout.

VENUE OPENING TIMES
Below are the times the venue opens and closes each day. You can arrive from these times, check your team in and get ready for the day.
- 4.30pm until 6pm Friday 13/09 for Athlete check in only
- 7.05am until 6.30pm on Saturday 14th September
- 6.30am until 3pm on Sunday 15th September
SPECTATOR TICKETS
If you are an athlete and want to spectate on the day you are not competing (Everyday athletes), you will NOT need to buy a spectator ticket - you can show your athlete wristband to gain entry. You can check in and get these when you arrive for the first time at the venue.

FOOD, DRINK & THE VENDOR VILLAGE
In between your workouts or on the days you're not competing, you can also enjoy what our vendor village has to offer. There will be a range of food available from coffee, meals, sweet treats and more.
Our partners such as Nutrition Warehouse, FitAid and Grenade will be sampling and selling product all weekend. We will also have a range of other brands on site including - LSKD, BYSC, ATP Science and True Protein as well as TURF merch.
With tunes playing from the live DJ stage, thousands of people enjoying the atmosphere and workouts, great food, the 2024 Gold Coast Summer Festival is not to be missed.
ATHLETE AREAS
There are various areas for athletes/teams to base themselves throughout the weekend - see venue map above. There is a large grandstand overlooking the track and then the far end of the track will be dedicated to athletes too. If you would like to bring a 3x3m gazebo to provide shade/shelter for your team please do so. However please note that these can not be staked into the ground and will need to be weighted down instead with at least 15kg on each leg. If gazebos are not sufficiently weighted down you will be asked to take the down by security who will be monitoring this area throughout the day. Chairs and bean bags are also welcome if you'd like to bring them.
ATHLETE WELFARE / RECOVERY
We are pleased to have P3 Recovery as our official recovery partner. The P3 Recovery Zone will be onsite all weekend offering mobility tools, compression therapy and cold water immersion – in a 4m x 2m cold pool. Make sure you get into the P3 Recovery Zone to chat with the recovery experts and take a dip with your team to keep your body and mind in peak condition throughout the competition!
Over the weekend we will also have trained first aid staff in attendance. We know how hard you push yourselves during the competition, so please do what you can to prepare and recover for the big day and if you need medical attention please alert your judge or a member of the Turf team asap.
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids on the day. There will be water points around the venue - both to fill up your water bottle and to purchase. Wear plenty of sunscreen and a hat if you wish.
We want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable day so if you have any concerns or injuries please speak to your judge or one of the TG staff. If you are feeling light headed or unwell please let someone know as soon as possible so we can ensure you get recovered and can enjoy the day.

ATHLETE IMAGES
We will have a team of Sportograf photographers on site all weekend to shoot images of you and your team. Following the competition all images will be uploaded HERE.
Once live you will be able to use the Sportograf facial recognition software to view your personalised image gallery. Images can then be purchased and/or downloaded. If you would like to be notified when they go live you can do so by registering on the above link.
WHAT YOU CAN/CAN'T WEAR & BRING
In terms of what you can and can't wear when working out.
- Athletes CAN wear - knee and elbow supports, weightlifting belts, chalk, lifting shoes, wrist straps, sunglasses, palm grips for any pull up bar workouts.
- Athletes CAN'T wear - lifting straps that wrap around the bar, gloves, headphones. No over the palm grips for any barbell workouts.
DRINKING WATER - there will be water refill points around the venue. We are trying to reduce plastic and waste - so if you do bring or buy a bottle of water on the day - please make sure you drink it all and don't leave half filled in the arena. We would encourage you to bring a reusable bottle and refill throughout the day.
SCORING
On each station in the arenas, the judge will have the scoresheet where your teams score will be written. At the end of your workout on that station, you need to check that the score written next to your team name is accurate and sign the scoresheet - this is then final and will be uploaded to our live leaderboard.
We do advise that you check the live leaderboard on Team Aretas throughout the day to ensure your score has been uploaded correctly. If it hasn't please make your way to the Master Judge in the appropriate arena to query.
Please note, until ALL teams in your category (i.e. mixed teams) have completed the workout, your points are going to fluctuate.
BROKEN EQUIPMENT DURING A WORKOUT
During a workout, if a piece of equipment a team is using breaks - i.e. ski erg/rower etc - the team will have the option to use the replacement equipment if available and continue on with the workout. Or at the end of all the workouts the team will have the option to redo the workout.
COMPETING RULES
RESPECT THE JUDGES. The majority of judges have given up there time to come along and make sure the event runs smoothly. We are determined to make this an incredible day for everyone involved. Should you have any concerns about the workouts, judging etc on the day, please speak to your judge or master judge in a calm and respectful way.
Please listen out for any directions, instructions or timings on the day. We will provide you where and when you need to be somewhere so please do adhere to the schedule. If you take any water bottles etc into a workout arena, please take it out at the end. Also, please place any rubbish in the bins provided.
