Turf Games Fittest in the City

September 1, 2018 at CrossFit London - 50 of London's fittest 'Fitness Trainers' lined up to compete in the inaugural Turf Games 'Fittest in the City'.  With trainers from all over London and from various backgrounds - gym's, studios, CrossFit - the competition was sure to be fierce.  The event was hosted at the newly refurbished CrossFit London in Bethnal Green.  Having 3 archways, a mezzanine level, full cafe and loads of toys to play around with - it was the perfect venue for this event. 

All athletes compete in 6 workouts in the 'rounds' stage. The workouts tested various things from pure power, engine levels, strength and stamina.  After the 6 rounds, 8 girls went through to the semi finals and 12 guys.  Points were reset and the athletes in the semi final competed in 3 tougher, slightly more complete workouts.  From here, the top 4 from men's and women's went through to the final to compete in 1 event.  Points were carried over from the semi finals.

It was so good to see people who had never met before pushing and encouraging their fellow athletes to better their performance and form new friendships and also individual athletes walk away from the day learning something about themselves and knowing what they need to work on for next time to turn their 'weakness' into a strength.

The standard of competition across the day was nothing short of phenomenal. There could only be 1 female and 1 male winner, and they were Jordan Shuttleworth (@trainedbyoj) and Zoe Lawrenson (@zoelawrenson_pt).
