The countdown is well and truly on, and we can't wait to see everyone on the TURF for our fourth and biggest ever DUBAI CITY SERIES event.

Please read on for some key information for you and your team.

GETTING TO THE VENUE

ISD Athletics Stadium - Sports City, Dubai.

The best way to get to the venue is to either drive or get a taxi. There is parking available at the venue - see venue map below, however we suggest you 'carpool' with a few athletes or spectators where possible to reduce the number of cars parking.

Kite Beach (Elite Teams ONLY)

The Elite workout on Saturday morning will take place on Kite Beach within the Dubai Fitness Challenge set up. The location is HERE. There is some car parking available on a first come first serve basis.

REGISTRATION

When you arrive at the venue you will need to come to the main ISD Stadium check in desk to register your team and receive your athlete wristband. All Elite teams will register on Friday evening (from 4.30pm) when they arrive for their first workout. All other teams can register on Friday evening from 4.30pm if they want to - this means that on Saturday morning you can avoid the queues and walk straight into the venue by showing your wristband. If you can't come on Friday, you can register on Saturday morning from 7.45pm.

FOOD / DRINK

The venue has a good selection of food vendors covering a range of options and dietary requirements as well as juices and coffee.

DRINKING WATER

PLEASE BRING PLENTY OF WATER FOR YOU AND YOUR TEAM 

There are places to refill water bottles within the venue however these may get very busy. On site vendors will also be selling water. We are trying to reduce plastic and waste - so if you bring a plastic bottle of water - please make sure you drink it all and don't leave half-filled in the arenas. We would encourage you to bring as much water with you as you can for you and your team.

SHADE / TEAM AREAS

There is some shade at the venue but not loads. If you have a 3m x 3m gazebo for your team, please do bring it along and you can put it up within the venue. Gazebos should ideally be unbranded; if a branded gazebo conflicts with our event partners we may have to ask you to take it down (we appreciate your understanding on this). Please do also bring chairs or something comfortable to sit on. If you are bringing a gazebo, please bring some 'weights' so it doesn't blow away if it gets windy.

TIMINGS

Team Heat Times will be released before the event on the links above - please keep checking the times to ensure yours has not changed at all. Please see below for all other key timings.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, 10th November - ELITE teams only

  • This workout is for Elite Teams only however all teams are welcome to come and watch.
  • Gates open 4.30pm. Athletes to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their heat start time.
  • First heat 5.30pm.

*if you would prefer a later heat time on Friday night due to work commitments etc please email us with your team name and we will endeavour to make this happen.

 

GAME DAY, Saturday 11th November - Everyday, Intermediate + Elite Teams

  • All teams competing

  • Elite Teams:

    • 8am until 10.30am Kite Beach
    • 11.30am until 6pm at ISD

     

  • Intermediate Teams + Everyday Teams: 

    • 9.00am until 6pm
    • The first heat is 9.00am
  • Doors will open at ISD stadium at 7.45am ready for team check in and warm up
  • All teams will be be competing on Saturday 11th November
  • We ask that teams arrive no earlier than 70 minutes before their start time. This will help reduce wait times at the check in desk
  • PODIUMS will be at approximately 5.20pm on Saturday

TEAM REGISTRATION

All athletes must be linked to the team they are competing in before the competition. You will not be able to compete if you are not properly linked to the team on Team Aretas. Any issues with getting your entire team linked please email caroline@turfgames.com.

You are NOT allowed to sub athletes into your team once you start your first workout - the 6 who start the day, must be the same 6 who finish the day. This also goes for the Elite teams, the 6 athletes who do the Friday Night Lights workout, must be the 6 who compete in the team on Saturday.

ATHLETE WELFARE / RECOVERY

We will have a recovery hub area at this year's event, where you can experience short treatments to aid recovery or sort out any niggles you might have.

Over the day we will also have trained first aid staff in attendance. We know how hard some of you work out and compete, so please do what you can to prepare and recover for the big day.  

We want to make sure everyone has a super enjoyable day so if you have any concerns or injuries please speak to your judge or one of the TG staff. If you are feeling lightheaded or unwell, please let someone know as soon as possible so we can ensure you get recovered and can enjoy the day.

VENUE FACILITIES

There are plenty of toilets on site as well as showers and changing rooms for athletes to use. You will need to bring your own towels for the showers.

WHAT YOU CAN/CAN'T WEAR & BRING

In terms of what you can and can't wear when working out.  

  • Athletes CAN wear - knee and elbow supports, weightlifting belts, chalk, lifting shoes, wrist straps, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats etc
  • Athletes CAN'T wear - anything that attaches/wraps around a bar to aid grip or strength

SCORING

On each lane in the arena's, the judge will have the scoresheet where your teams score will be written. At the end of your workout, you need to check that the score written next to your team name is accurate and sign next to the score.

Once you are happy and signed your score sheet, you may leave the arena taking all that you brought in - water bottles, chalk, tape etc. The score will then be inputted into the scoreboard.

We have a LIVE scoreboard at the event powered by Team Aretas. It takes around 5 minutes to update scores. Please note, until ALL teams in your category have completed the workout, your points are going to fluctuate.
