WHICH DIVISION SHOULD WE ENTER?
More than ever, with the large number of people taking part in Turf Games, we ask that you respect the divisions and enter the appropriate division for your teams level of functional fitness.
The purpose of the table is to help you decide which division would suit your ability.
Please see below the movement standard tables. These are not comprehensive of all movements that may come up in the competition. The weights and movements listed below are assuming you can perform 5-8 reps at that weight - they are not your 1 rep max lifts. So if you are at your gym and the coach programs any of the below movements in a session, if you feel comfortable performing these weights then you will be able to compete and have fun in the relevant division.
The dumbbell movements done in the past include - squats, thrusters, devils press, shoulder to overhead, hang clean and press, dumbbell snatch or similar. Please note there will NOT be, in any division - muscle ups, HSPU, handstand walks.
- Weights are in Male / Female order. So 'Dumbbell EDay' male use 1 dumbbell at 15kg and females use 1 dumbbell at 10kg
- EDAY = Everyday Division

WHAT IS EVERYDAY DIVISION?
All the atmosphere. Less weight. Full send.
This is where it starts.
The Everyday Division is the entry point to the Turf Games— built for athletes who train a few times a week, are new to fitness competitions, or have only dipped their toe in before.
If you want to get on the TURF, compete alongside your community and soak up the atmosphere, but aren’t looking to go heavy on the weighted elements, this is your lane.
You enjoy working together, pushing yourself, and seeing what you’re capable of - without the pressure of elite-level loads or any high skilled movements. You’ll still be challenged - just in a way that prioritises movement, effort, and teamwork over max strength.
Come for the challenge. Leave with clarity on your strengths, your weaknesses, and what’s next - and get some great content while you are at it!
This division is about participation, teamwork, and earning the Turf experience.
INTERMEDIATE ATHLETE DIVISION
Heavier loads. Faster racing. No shortcuts.
This is where it levels up.
The Intermediate Division is the next step on the Turf - built for athletes who train consistently and have experience in fitness competitions. The Intermediate division is your step up from Everyday, and your shot at testing yourself against stronger, sharper teams.
You’ve competed before. Maybe you’ve even hit the podium in the Everyday Division. Now it’s time to move up and see where you really stand.
If you’re a coach, PT, or come from a solid sporting background, you’ll feel right at home here. Expect workouts that are similar Elite - but with more accessible loading and a field that matches your level.
This isn’t beginner anymore. But it’s not quite elite. It’s the proving ground.
You belong here if:
- You only scale workouts occasionally
- You train consistently (3–4+ times a week) with a structured approach
- You’re comfortable lifting moderate to heavy weights
- You’ve competed before — or podiumed in Everyday-level comps (like Turf Everyday)
- You’re ready to level up
What to expect:
- Competitive, high-energy programming
- No high-skill gymnastics (no muscle-ups, handstands, or overhead squats)
- Some light-to-moderate skill elements (e.g. toes-to-bar may appear for 1 teammate per team)
- Tight competition across well-matched teams
Plenty on the line. Come ready to work. Leave with confidence, perspective, and momentum forward.
Podium finishes, partner prizes, and serious bragging rights.
This is where you prove you’re ready for the next level.

ELITE ATHLETE CATEGORY
Defined by consistency. Proven on the Turf.
Athletes and teams who are the best of the best - there aren't any holes in your game! You want to vie for top spot and be crowned the undisputed best team on the Turf. You are on the TURF to really push yourself, go up against some great functional fitness athletes and you want to go all in - just like the way you train!
Example of people who should enter the elite category are -
- You don't scale workouts at your gym
- You have been training for some time and have a structured, progressive approach to your training
- You train 4-5+ times per week
- You lift heavy (RX level weights)
- You have competed at multiple fitness comps before or have been on the podium in the Turf Intermediate Division
- There will not be any hand stands, muscle ups or high skilled gymnastics. You should be able to perform reps of TTB (toes to bar), rope climbs
Turf Games reserves the right to adjust or amend a teams entered division at their sole discretion. Athletes competing in an incorrect division based on various factors, will be requested to move accordingly, or in some cases removed from a podium position.
